When the Facebook post of Gelica Manuel Tulauan caught the netizens attentions after she shared a unusual story about a GrabCar driver show showed his compassion for the homeless went viral, netizens kept on asking the identity of the GrabCar Driver who was only identified as Carlo Santiago Diaz.
The inspirational story of Tulauan about the GrabCar driver caught not only the social media attention but also the mainstream media as ABS-CBN discovered more about the identity of Carlo Santiago Diaz.
Carlo Santiago Diaz, who is now known as the “Good Samaritan GrabCar Driver” is the man mentioned by Tulauan on his viral Facebook post. The 25-year-old Carlo Santiago Diaz was the driver of the Toyota Wigo that Tulauan took. He bought his car last September and joined GrabCar four months later.
According to Diaz in an interview with ABS-CBN, he is not the only one in his circle who gives food to the homeless in Metro Manila. Aside from him, his girlfriend, Cristina Sotelo Anastacio helps him by cooking the food and preparing the brown bag, which contains a cup of rice, a dish (usually adobo) and a juice pack. They also give used clothes.
Carlo Diaz and Cristina Anastacio ere batchmates in high school, and have been together for four years now. Anastacio works as a supervisor at a restaurant, while Diaz works as a full-time GrabCar driver. They currently live in Mandaluyong but the most interesting part of their relationship is their deep compassion to the homeless.
