The tough-talking Mayor of Davao City, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte who is considered as one of the most popular candidate not only in Visayas and Mindanao area but also in social media is set to visit Pope Francis in Vatican City as an act of contrition for his previous mistake. The possible visit of Mayor Duterte to Vatican was revealed through an article posted on Bandera.
According to the source of Bandila, the 70-year-old Mayor of Davao City who is running for president will seek an audience with Pope Francis but even if he could not see Pope Francis in person, he will still visit the city, which is the seat of power of the world’s most popular religion, the Roman Catholic church.
Ramon Tulfo, one of the country’s most prominent journalist wrote the Bandera column revealing the plans of Mayor Duterte to visit Pope Francis. Mayor Duterte’s name was dragged down due to his statement against the leader of the billion-strong Roman Catholics and his intention to visit the Pope is considered as an act of contrition.
The Bandera report also revealed the story of Mayor Duterte, who was one of the few local government unit official who responded to the call of help by the city of Tacloban, the ground zero of the devastating super typhoon Yolanda.
Mayor Duterte arrived in Tacloban city flying with a four-seater helicopter from Davao City. He was accompanied by some of Davao’s elite members of the world-renowned 911 operatives who helped in the rescue and recovery effort of the local government.
