Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile, one of the oldest lawmaker in the Philippine Senate revealed on Sunday that he wanted to reopen the controversial Mamasapano incident hearing to prove why President Aquino was “ultimately responsible” for the deaths of 44 members of the PNP Special Action Force (SAF).
In an exclusive interview with dzBB, Sen. Enrile was quoted as saying “Ano ang pananagutan niya? Ano ba ang pananagutan ng presidente dito sa pangyayari na ito na sinasabing siya ang ‘ultimately responsible,'” Enrile told the radio station.
The senator was quoting the statement of Sen. Grace Poe, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Public Order, that Aquino was “ultimately responsible” for the Mamasapano incident.
The 90-year-old Juan Ponce Enrile also provided a list of Cabinet officials that he wanted to invite during the reopening of the Mamasapano probe on January 27.
Among those Enrile wanted to question are Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, former Philippine National Police chief Alan Purisima, former Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Gregorio Pio Catapang, former Interior secretary Mar Roxas, former PNP officer-in-charge Leonardo Espina and Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman.
One the main concern of the Senate Minority Floor Leader, he just wanted to know the reasons why Pres. Aquino was in Zamboanga City with his full staff on January 25, 2015 despite the fact that it was an important date on Aquino family, the birthday of former Pres. Cory Aquino.
