The loving mother of Miss Universe 2015 winner Pia Wurtzbach recalled the proud moments of her daughter during the coronation night of the world’s most prestigious beauty pageant. Three days after the victory of Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, her mother still could not believe the achievement of her lovely daughter.
In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN via Skype, the mother of Pia Wurtzbach, Cheryl Alonzo Tyndall recalled the moments as she watched the Miss Universe pageant at her house in London, England.
The mother of Pia Wurtzbach was quoted as saying “My God, it’s like a roller coaster. Nung sinabi nung host na the Miss Universe is Miss Colombia, oh my God. Papatayin ko na talaga ‘yung laptop ko. Pero for some reason, hinayaan ko lang umandar. So pasulyap-sulyap lang ako, kasi matutulog na ako noon, 3 a.m. na ‘yun. Tapos maya-maya sabi nung host, ‘I would like to apologize.’ Sabi ko oh my God, what’s going on here?” she said.
When the host of the Miss Universe 2015, Steve Harvey started to apologize, Pia’s mother said the first thin that came to her mind was that her daughter won the title.
“Inisip ko si Pia talaga ang nanalo kasi ang galing niya eh. Magaling siya. Nung sinabi na ‘the first runner-up is Miss Colombia, and the Miss Universe is the Philippines,’ talagang baka kaya hindi ako nagpunta sa Las Vegas kasi maha-high blood talaga ako. Buti na lang nandito lang ako noon sa bahay para kapag nahimatay ako, nasa bed ako. Tuwang tuwa kami,” she said.
Despite the mistake of the Miss Universe host of announcing the wrong winner during the coronation night, Pia’s mother said that she is not mad at the host Steve Harvey.
