Sen. Grace Poe & VP Binay Leads SWS Survey; Mayor Duterte Gains

Controversial candidates Vice President Jejomar Binay and Comelec disqualified candidate Sen. Grace Poe have topped a presidential preference survey conducted by the Social Weather Station (SWS) and Business World magazine. Sen. Grace Poe and VP Binay were picked by 26 percent of the 1,200 respondents asked in the survey conducted from December 12-14, 2015.

SWS Results

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte gains nine-percentage-point jump at 20 percent compared to the last SWS Survey conducted by the same organization last September to December 2015, survey results. Although Mayor Duterte only ranked at fourth spot in the latest SWS survey, his supporters believes that Mayor Duterte has a huge chance of becoming the next President.

Sen. Grace Poe and VP Binay tied at the top spot while the Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas was ranked at third with 22 percent while Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago was fifth with four percent.

According to the SWS, this is the first time that a presidential pool was conduced following the filing of the aspirants’ certificate of candidacy (COC). The survey results was first reported by Business World on Tuesday and had a margin of error of ±3.

During the last survey conducted by SWS and Business World last September, Sen. Grace Poe was leading with 26 percent while VP Binay got 24 percent and Mar Roxas with 20 percent but they were statistically tied during the announcement of results due to the margin of error.
