Various Local Government Units (LGUs) and the Department of Education (DepEd), together with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) declared suspension of classes on December 16, 2015 to the areas affected by the onslaught of Bagyong Nona.
Authorities have canceled several classes across Luzon and Visayas, as Typhoon ”Nona” (international name: Melor) passes through several provinces. Although the latest weather disturbance hitting the country slightly weakens, authorities made sure that precautionary measures are implemented in the areas affected.

Bagyong Nona slowed down on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 as it crossed the Northern portion of Mindoro but maintained its strength even after making its fifth landfall in Oriental Mindoro.
According to the latest weather bulletin released by PAGASA, Bagyong was packing maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 160 kph. It was moving west northwest at 9 kph. It is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Friday, December 18, 2015.
