The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) stated early morning on Tuesday that Bagyong Nona will bring heavy rains in the areas of Metro Manila although the weather disturbance has slightly weakened with maximum sustained winds of 140 kph and gustiness of up to 170 kph.
Bagyong Nona was moving west at 15 kph as it will bring intense rainfall within the typhoon’s 250-km diameter. During the previous announcement of PAGASA, they noted that Metro Manila expect light to moderate but they changed the forecast to heavy rains in the nation’s capital.
Aside from Metro Manila, nearby areas of Rizal, Quezon, Batangas, Bulacan, Laguna are likewise expecting the same amount of rainfall. PAGASA released to the public that Public storm warning signal number 3 remained hoisted over Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island Marinduque and Romblon.
Meanwhile, public storm signal number 2 was raised over Burias Islands, Southern Quezon, Batangas and Calamian Group of Islands.
For Signal No. 1, PAGASA hoisted it in the following areas Metro Manila, Masbate including Ticao Island, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Albay, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, Rizal, Northern Palawan, Bataan, Rest of Quezon, Aklan, Capiz, Antique and Iloilo.
Based upon the latest hourly update of PAGASA the eye of Typhoon “NONA” was located based on all available data in the vicinity of Concepcion, Romblon (12.9°N, 121.7°E).
