There is no one above the law and there is no sacred cow in Davao City particularly if you are caught violating a traffic regulation. A certain congressman proved and experienced how the people of Davao City implement and follow the laws in Davao City.
Bayan Muna Representative Carlos Isagani Zarate learned his lesson in Davao City on Tuesday when he was flagged down for speeding while traversing the McArthur Highway from downtown Davao.
According to an Executive Order No. 39 issued by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte,a 40 kilometers speed limit is imposed in McArthur Highway. The congressman narrated that the police officer, he identified as SPO1 Mallonga approached and greeted him courteously.
The police then showed the congressman that he violated the speed limit order by showing him the speed limit gun marking 54 kph. The congressman could do nothing but to give his license and the officer issued him a Temporary Operator’s Permit (TOP) and attend to two other speed limit violators.
The congressman took to social media and shared his experience in Davao City and applied the hashtags #davaospeedlimit #mydavao and #lifeishere. The post of the congressman went viral on various social media sites after it was shared by netizens.
