Here’s our Match Preview of the FEU vs. UST Game 2 Finals:
The Far Eastern University Tamaraws enjoyed a 1-0 edge in the best-of-three championship series and all they needed is a win today and they will capture the UAAP Season 78 title of the Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Tamaraws wants to finish off the UST in the soonest possible time today at the historic Araneta Coliseum.
The Growling Tigers on their part wants to extend the series to a penultimate Game 3 as they will try to bounce back from their previous loss against the FEU, the team who is gunning for their 20th championship title, the best finished in the UAAP.
Based upon the finals history of both teams, FEU failed to capitalize against Ateneo during Season 73 and against the NU Bulldogs last season. The UST on their part fell short in stopping Ateneo’s fifth-straight title in Season 75 and against La Salle on return trip in Season 76.
According to most sports analysts, the FEU boasts a deeper line up with the luxury of playing their Big Three (Mac Belo, Mike Tolomia, and RR Pogoy) no more than 25 minutes a game ad can turn to the likes of Russell Escoto, Archie Inigo and defensive ace Ron Denison for the stretches as the main guns get some rests.
The UST Tigers has the better starting five anchored their own version of Big Three featuring Kevin Ferrer, Karim Abdul, and Ed Daquioag.
