President Benigno S. Aquino aired his official statement when asked about his comments on Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to run for President in the 2016 elections against Aquino’s presidential bet, former DILG Secretary Mar Roxas.
According to Pres. Aquino he will decline to comment on Davao City Mayor Duterte’s presidential bid since has has incomplete information on how the mayor will join the 2016 presidential race.
Pres. Aquino was quoted as saying “Pagdating kay Duterte, ano ba ang tamang impormasyon? Parang magse-speculate na naman ako e. For instance, i-a-adopt siya ng PDP-Laban. Tapos may lumabas na istorya yung kandidato ng PDP Laban nagfile raw for mayor. So pag sinabi ko – pwede ba siya mag-file? Speculation. Wala naman akong kopya ng document,” he said.
Mayor Duterte announced on Saturday that he finally decided to run for President of the Republic of the Philippines after the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) voted against petition to disqualify Sen. Grace Poe on the grounds of her citizenship.
The tough-talking Mayor of Davao City has yet to formally inform the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), particularly the leader of the political party, Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, for his decision to run for the highest office in the Philippines.
