US Navy Destroyer USS Fitzgerald Arrives in Manila for APEC Summit 2015 Security

One of the most advanced guided missile destroyer of the United States Navy, the USS Fitzgerald arrives in Manila for APEC Summit 2015 security and in line with its routine patrol in the ares of operations of the US Navy’s 7th Fleet which is based in Japan.

The US Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class, guided missile destroyer DDG 62 arrives in Manila for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. The vessel arrived on Monday, after its routine patrol in the hotly disputed South China Sea.

USS Fitzgerald is in Manila for a five-day support mission other than its routine patrol in the 7th Fleet area of operations as announced by US Embassy in Manila.

The APEC Summit 2015 this week will be attended by several of the world’s most popular leaders including President Barack Obama who is scheduled to visit the Philippine Navy flagship, BRP Gregorio del Pilar.

According to Cmdr. Christopher England, the ship’s commanding officer, said the patrol mission reinforces the United States’ relationship with countries in the region.
