One of the world’s most powerful leaders, Chinese President Xi Jinping arrives in Manila for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit 2015 hosted by the Philippines. The President has arrived in in Manila on Tuesday to attend the APEC Summit Leaders’ meeting.
Pres. Xi Jinping arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 at around 12:23 PM onboard an Air China plane together with the members of the Chinese economists and other key government leaders.
During the arrival of the Chinese president, he was welcomed by Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua and Philippine Ambassador to China Erlinda Basilio.
The arrival of the Chinese President, has allayed fears that the Communist head may boycott the high-level meeting due to the persisting tension between China and other Southeast Asian countries, which include the Philippines, over a territorial dispute in the South China Sea or the West Philippine Sea.
The Philippines and China was involved in an international case as the Filipinos took China to court over the territorial dispute. The United Nations Arbitral Court already ruled that it has jurisdiction to hear Manila’s claim as the Philippines scored a victory against China.
