One of the country’s most revered national hero, Andres Bonifacio who was also considered as the “Father of the Philippine Revolution will be remembered once again this coming November 30, 2015 as the national government declared the date as one of the country’s Regular National Holiday.

The Philippines and the entire Filipino people here in the country and abroad will be marking the 152nd birth anniversary of Spanish-era revolutionary leader Andres Bonifacio this coming Monday, November 30, 2015.
Based upon President Benigno Aquino III’s Proclamation No. 831 series of 2014, the President declared November 30, 2015 as a Regular National Holiday in the entire Philippines.
The Andres Bonifacio Holiday falls on Monday which will give Filipinos another three-day weekend for the year 2015. The Department of Labor and Employment also urged employees from the private sectors to abide by the required Holiday Pay Rules among their employees.
National hero Andres Bonifacio made some significant contributions in the history of the Philippines. Most historians considered him as the first president of the Philippine archipelago which he preferred naming “Bansan ng Katagalugan or Tagalog Republic.”
Andres Bonifacio was one of the few nationalist and revolutionaries who believes that the only way to defeat the Spanish invaders is through force. He was a founder and later Supremo (Supreme leader) of the revolutionary group Katipunan, that sought independence from Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines.
