One of the country’s strongest political party, Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) has nominated him as its standard bearer. The party’s announcement was released by the party because of the latest statement of Mayor Duterte that he might run for President for the sake of the oppressed.
According to a report posted by Philippine Star, a PDP-Laban party official confirmed that the party prepared the Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) and the only missing is Mayor Duterte’s signature.
PDP-Laban still believes on Mayor Duterte that he will change his mind and will run for President of the Philippines, as the party confirmed that they are still waiting until December 10, 2015, the deadline set by COMELEC for substitution candidate.
Once the CONA will be signed by Mayor Duterte, it will be submitted to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). PDP-Laban, the party who was responsible for the presidency of the late President Cory Aquino, they considered Mayor Duterte’s statement a positive sign that he will consider signing the CONA.
The national political party, PDP-Laban also revealed that based on their internal survey conducted, 90 percent of the respondents nationwide want Mayor Duterte to be the next President of the Republic of the Philippines.
