The controversial but popular candidate for president Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte announced during an interview with the media that he will not declare his intention to run for President but noted that the Filipino people should wait and see if he will file his Certificate of Candidacy for President.
During the interview with reporters, Mayor Duterte was quoted as saying “If I show my face there at the (Commission on Elections) on the 15th, I will be filing the certificate (of candidacy) (COC) for presidency,” he said.
The 70-year-old Mayor Duterte also admitted talking with the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan on the 2016 elections, said his supporters should just wait for his action in the coming days because he would not be making any declaration at all.
Before the interview, some of Duterte supporters claimed on social media that the Mayor would be declaring his candidacy for president today, October 10, 2015. The claims were boosted by Duterte’s recent announcement of senatorial slate, which he called the “Dream Team.”
Mayor Duterte also confirmed that he will be supporting the candidacy of the Pinoy Boxing Icon, Manny Pacquiao and named other veteran politicians such as Serge Osmeña, Panfilo Lacson, and Juan Miguel Zubiri to name a few.
