Gilas Pilipinas, the national basketball team of the Philippines defeated the Kuwait national basketball team during the Filipinos final game in the preliminary round of the FIBA Asia 2015. The Philippines finished the preliminary with 2-1 win-loss card.
The Philippines will move on to the next round of the competition featuring the Top 3 teams from both Group B and Group A which features Iran, Japan and India. The Gilas Pilipinas squad defeated Kuwait with the final score of 110-64.
The Philippine national men’s basketball team finished the first round with a 2-1 record and and will move on to the next round of the competition alongside Palestine and Hong Kong who will form Group E that will feature Iran, Japan and India.
During the Kuwait game, Terrence Romeo topscored for the Philippines with 19 points including a perfect 3-of-3 clip from the three-point range and added with two assists and two steals. Jayson Castro added with 16 points, Calvin Abueva with 10 points and eight rebounds.
The FIBA Asia 2015 championship will take a break tomorrow, September 26 and resume action in the second round on Sunday, September 27. Gilas Pilipinas will have a carryover 1-1 win-loss record to the second group phase with Kuwait eliminated.
