A frequent flyer American missionary has accused security personnel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) of placing bullet in his luggage and using the “planted” contraband to extort P30,000 from him. The news broke out after the controversial planting of bullets by alleged NAIA personnel went viral on Facebook.
The American missionary victim who was identified as Lane Michael White of Florida, he spent six days in jail and got out only on Tuesday after posting a P40,000 bail.
According to Inquirer, causing the trouble for the 20-year-old missionary was the .22-caliber bullet found in his bag in the morning of September 17, when he and his family were scheduled to take a flight to Coron, Palawan.
The missionary ended up being charged with illegal possession of ammunition before Pasay City Judge Pedro Gutierrez.
The missionary victim became the second foreigner in a week to make such allegations against airport personnel manning the X-Ray scanner at the departure area, where members of NAIA’s Office of Transportation Security (OTS) are assigned.
In an earlier report, a wheelchair-bound woman said she had to give P500 to an OT member just to be cleared for her flight back to California but her post on Facebook went viral on social media causing the two alleged OTS personnel being suspended to face investigation.
The two cases were similar, a .22-caliber bullets were found in one of the pockets of their baggage.
