The tough-talking and controversial mayor of Davao City, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte will be making an important announcement at around 4:00 PM on Monday, September 7, 2015 at the Grand Men Seng Hotel but it is still unclear whether the mayor will finally declare his intentions to run for President of the Republic of the Philippines.
Mayor Duterte’s chief aide Christopher Lawrence Go released the information regarding Mayor Duterte’s announcement but he refused to give further details to the media. Another source also noted that they were told not to say anything.
The secrecy of Mayor Duterte’s announcement has fanned talks about the declaration of the mayor to run for president. Although the supporters of the Davao City Mayor speculates that he will finally decide to run, the Mayor vehemently denied that he will run for President.
In the latest episode of Mayor Duterte’s radio program “Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa,” Mayor Duterte remains adamant against running for President, this time pointing out that his children — former Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio, incumbent Vice Mayor Paolo Z. Duterte, and businessman Sebastian Z. Duterte — seem to seek elected positions and he does not want to be accused of having a dynasty.
Mayor Dutete also denied earlier reports stating that his businessman son, Sebastian will be running for Congress in the third district, noting that Sebastian has no interests on politics.
