Veteran Philippine Azkals mainstay Mark Hartmann was instrumental in Global’s entry to the semi-finals of the popular Singapore Cup as the Filipino club reach the seminals of Southeast Asia’s major football tournament held at Bedok Stadium in Singapore. Global were down 0-1 after the first leg but they bounced back with Hartmann firing a hat trick that gave the Filipinos a 4-2 win in aggregate.
The Philippine team Global, defeated the Geylang International 4-1 in extra time to reach the semifinals of the Singapore Cup. During the year 2013, Global also reached the semifinals but failed to win the title.
In the 2015 edition of the Singapore Cup, Global will face the winner of the tie pitting S-League teams Aibirex Nigata and Balestier Khalsa which will be held next month.
Aside from Mark Hartmann the other Filipino player who shine during the quarterfinals game of Global is no less the the Southeast Asia Games veteran Paolo Salenga who scored a critical 80th-minute goal that forced extrra time.
Mart Hartmann scored for Global during the 20th-minute, 110th minute and the last shot was fired by Hartmann when Geylang men’s were desperately sent forward in the dying seconds of the game.
