Former President of the Republic of the Philippines now congressman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was granted a five-hour furlough to visit her older sick brother, Arturo Macapagal, who was confined at the Makati Medical Center for stage four prostate cancer.
The 72-year-old brother of Rep. Arroyo was confined at the hospital since July 2, 2015. According to Arroyo’s camp who asked the anti-graft court last Friday, their request is for the former President to visit her brother from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, exclusive of travel time and the Pampanga congresswoman will shoulder the travel costs.
Rep.Arroyo’s legal counsels said that Arturo Macapagal ahs been confined in the Intensive Care Unit of the MMC and the 72-year-old Macapagal, may not long to live, because his cancer has spread to his brain, bones and lungs.
The former Philippine President, Rep. Arroyo has been under hospital arrest at the Veterans Medical Center the year 2012. She is facing a plunder case for misusing P366 million intelligence fund of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
Arturo Macapagal is the second child of former president Diosdado Macapagal with his first wife, Purita dela Rosa, who passed away in 1943 while Gloria Arroyo is the daughter of Macapagal with his second wife, Dr. Evangeline Macaraig.
