Reigning two-time PBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) June Mar Fajardo is doubtful for his availability in the upcoming Gilas Pilipinas stint for the 2015 FIBA-Asia championship in China because of his injuries on both feet which need a long rest to heal.
The injuries of Fajardo was revealed during an interview with sports website Spin.ph, when he was interviewed during the victory party of San Miguel Beer on Tuesday night.
According to the 25-year-old June Mar Fajardo he had been dealing with plantar fasciitis on both feet during the Beermen’s run to the PBA Governors Cup title.
The injury plantar fasciitis involves “pain and inflammation of a thick band of tissue, called the plantar fascia, that runs across the bottom of your foot and connects your heel bone to your toes,” as explained by Mayo Clinic.
During the past few games of the Beermen, June Mar Fajardo was seen limping on some occasions. The injury of Gilas Pilipinas big man should cause concern for national coach Tab Baldwin and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, just days before a revised lineup for the Olympic qualifier is to be announced.
