The Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines, Vice President Jejomar Binay made his first televised announcement that he won’t back out in the 2016 Presidential despite the attacked at him by some of administration party’s allies. He also noted that right after his decision to step down as one of administration’s cabinet member, he now leads the opposition party.
Vice President Jejomar Binay made an opening salvo which some analysts believe is the start of a barrage of attacks against the administration, the Vice President proclaimed himself as the leader of the opposition and even described the current administration as “manhid” and “palpak.”
According to the 72-year-old VP Jejomar Binay, he is fighting for a government that is capable and cares, this is the first time that the second highest official official of the country stated something against the Aquino administration.
Vice Pres. Binay was quoted as saying “Ito ang aking ipinaglalaban. Ito rin ang hangarin ng ating mga kababayan: isang pamahalaang kabaliktaran ng manhid at palpak na pamahalaan ngayon,” he said.
Before the Vice President step down as one of the cabinet member, he was the chief of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) and Presidential Adviser on Overseas Filipino Workers’ (OFW) Concerns, Binay said he was able to hear the public’s complaints on lack of opportunities to rise from poverty.
VP Binay also noted during his televised statement that the attacks against him and his familly will not stop his plans for 2016 presidential election. He was quoted as saying “Sinasabi ko sa inyo ngayon. Kung ang layunin nyo ay ang paatrasin ako sa pagtakbo… nagkakamali kayo. Hindi ako umaatras sa laban.”
