Chef Datuk Redzuawan Ismael, also known popularly in Malaysia as Chef Wan, reportedly criticized the latest CNN poll on the world’s best culinary destinations, wherein the Philippines ranked second. He has been quoted by a Malaysian website as saying that the Philippines has the worst cuisine in Asia.
In an interview with English-language Malaysian website Astro Awani, the Malaysian chef was quoted as saying “Philippines is known to have the worst food in Asia, ask any chefs and they will tell you I am right.” chef Wan said.
The popular Malaysian chef criticized further that the results of the CNN poll should put Malaysia-which landed in sixth place, his country should have dominated the list instead of Taiwan.
Chef Wan even suggested that the five choices in terms of variety should be “number one Malaysia, followed by Italy, Thailand, Japan and India,” chef Wan stated.
The controversial Malaysian chef also noted that Malaysia should be first in the world’s best food destination because their food has varieties and flavors that reflect the culture and food.
