Muslim Leaders Urged DTI for Stable Prices of Basic Goods During Ramadan 2015

Muslim leaders in Mindanao urged the Department of Trade and Industry in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DTI-ARMM) and other concerned government agencies for a stable prices of basic goods in the region during the whole month of Ramadan. The group of Muslim leaders, wanted their fellow Muslims protected from unscrupulous traders, who might take advantage of the fasting month of Ramadan.

The billion-strong Muslim worshipers from around the world prepare for the observance of the fasting month of Ramadan, which is tentatively scheduled on June 17 or 18, 2015 depending on the sightings of the moon.

A joint resolution made by made by the 2nd national mufti and ulama assembly in Davao City was already submitted to the DTI regional office in ARMM.

According to the experiences of our Muslim brothers in Mindanao, the prices of basic commodities would more than double during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Fasting during the month of Ramadan is obligatory to able-bodied Muslims, both male and female, its a religious practice that prohibits eating, drinking and engaging in carnal act from dawn until sunset.
