MTRCB Summons ABS-CBN for “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” Controversial Dialogue

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRC) summons ABS-CBN’s top executive for a “mandatory conference” because of a controversial dialogue delivered by one of the character in the hit teleserye “Pangako Sa ‘Yo.” The dialogue was delivered by veteran actress Pilar Pilapil.

The controversial line reads: “Kung pampalipas libog lang iyan, that’s okay. Go ahead.” Pilar Pilapil who portrayed the role of Doña Benita Buenevista uttered the controversial lines during a confrontation scene with Eduardo Buenavista, the role played by actor Ian Veneracion.

According to MTRCB, the scene if left unexplained, cuts into the dignity of the woman and the integrity of an impending marriage-which is a protected institution.

 

The top-rating series Pangako Sa ‘Yo registered an impressive ratings for the Kapamilya Channel, at the pilot week of the series it registered 32.4% ratings surpassing its competitors such as GMA-7’s “Let The Love Begin (13.8%) and TV5’s “Wattpad Presents” (2.9%).

 

As of posting time, the representatives of ABS-CBN are meeting with the MTRCB officers at its office in Manila.
