Coach Chito Narvasa Appointed as New PBA Commissioner

Asia’s first professional basketball league, the Philippine Basketball Association named it newest commissioner as Coach Chito Narvasa has been appointed as the new Commissioner of the PBA. The PBA Board of Governors unanimously approved Chito Navasa to take over the post of former commissioner Chito Salud.

Chito Salud on his part will take on the new role given to him the board as the PBA’s first President. According to the PBA’s announcement, Chito Narvasa’s appointment will take effect on August 1, 2015.

In an official statement released by PBA President, Chito Salud, he was quoted as saying “Chito brings tremendous experience, maturity and know-how in managing the growing operational and technical challenges of a vibrant and dynamic league,” Salud said in a statement.

Chito Narvas is the son of former Chief Justice Andres Narvasa and currently holds position as President of the Basketball Coaches Association of the Philippines.

Once the appointed PBA Commissioner assumes office in August, he will vacate his post as President of the coachingassociation in country because working as a PBA Commissioner requires full time attention.

Coach Chito Narvasa formerly coached Purefoods and Shell in the 1990s aside from the shots for the Ateneo Blue Eagles in 1989.
