A major earthquake jolted Northern part of India and Nepal on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at around 12:41 PM (local time). The earthquake which was reportedly at intensity 7.4 on richter scale were felt in the ares of Rajasthan like Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Puskar to name a few.
According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake has been identified as Kodari, Nepal, which is 22 km Southeast of Zham, China.
Earlier reports noted that the earthquke lasted for 60 seconds, and measured at 7.1 on the Richter scale but it was later upgraded to 7.4 in Richter scale.
The earthquake that hits the Himalayas region was felt weeks after a similar tremor killed more than 8,000 people in Nepal. The Northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (U.P.) felt the tremor of the earthquake. Other areas of India such as Punjab, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and Jharkand felt the tremor.
According to authorities, the the damage caused by the May 12 earthquake that hits India and Nepal has not been estimated yet.
