Pacquiao vs. Mayweather Pay Per View Buys Could Hit $5 Million

Floyd Mayweathe Jr. and Manny Pacquiao may not worthy of the billing as the “Fight of the Century” both fighters made a gold mine in terms of pay-per-view earnings based upon the estimates of various sports analyst. According to Yahoo Sports’s Kevin Iole, the PPV sales of the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather bout could breach the $5-million mark.

Mayweather defeats Pacquiao

The estimates could double or more than double the 2.48 million PPV record sales set by Floyd Mayweather’s match against Oscar de la Hoya in 2007 in a fight dubbed as “The World Awaits.”

Yahoo Sports noted that the fight slaes figures from DirecTV, Dish Network, AT&T’s uVerse and Verizon’s FIOS PPV services “already add up to 2.25 million sales.” The figures doesn’t count the Pay Per View sales from major cable systems throughout the United States.

Kevin Iole estimates that the final figure for PPV buys could reach a mind-boggling 5.625 million, which means that the total revenues generated by the bout can exceed the $300-million projection.

Floyd Mayweather Jr., is expected to get up to $200 million from the bout while the Filipino boxing icon is expected to earn more than $100 million. During the fight the Manny Pacquiao lost by a unanimous decision in the mega fight.

Based on records, the Mayweather’s fight against Saul Alvarez holds the records as the highest grossing PPV of all time with $150 million in US PPV (2.25 million buys).
