International travel blogger Nathan Allen has been declared as persona non grata in the province of Sorsogon after he posted a non-flattering statement on his official Facebook page against the local tourism office of Sorsogon during the past few weeks.
Nathan Allen, the American travel blogger who owns “I Dreamed of This,” earlier wrote that he was “disappointed in Donsol” after no one helped him at the toursim office about which places of interest he could visit and promote.
Part of the article, he published online last April 14, read: “Is the Department of Tourism just hiring members of their families who need jobs? I hope not… these people need to ACTUALLY be qualified!”
Due to the statement posted by the American blogger, the local officials and tourism department of Sorsogon, made some moves to stop the blogger’s ranting on social media.
A board member of the Donsol Tourism Office, Frank Eric Ravanella, filed a resolution declaring Nathan Allen as persona non grata, the resolution was approved by the council. According to Ravanilla, Allen’s post had reached thousands of people, adding that tourists who may have wanted to visit Donsol may not want to do so anymore.
