A Filipino domestic helper in Hong Kong identified as Irish S. Cagampang was sentenced to six months in jail after she was found guilty making up names of employers and providing fake documents such as utility bills to apply for a work visa in Hong Kong.
The 31-year-old domestic helper received a relatively light sentence after she pleaded guilty to two charges of “causing to be made a false statement” that she would reside in her employer’s home when she applied for work visa in two occassions in 2013.
Irish Cagampang will have to serve five months in jail as she was already in police custody during the course of the case in court.
The Filipino domestic helper in Hong Kong was arrested during an investigation by the Immigration Department. The convicted domestic helper reportedly was married and had two children and arrived in the former British colony on December 2011 to work as a domestic helper.
