The leader of the world’s largest religion, Pope Francis became the newest member of Harlem Globetrotters. Pope Francis is now a honorary member of the legendary Harlem Globetrotters aside from being the leader of the billion-strong Roman Catholics worldwide.
The inclusion of Pope Francis as an honorary member of the famous Harlem Globetrotters was announced on social media through the official account of Harlem Globetrotters.
As a member of the famed basketball group, Pope Francis was presented with a framed jersey with “Pope Francis” printed across the back-alongside the no. 90, proclaiming him the ninth honorary Harlem Globetrotters in the history of the team.
During the visit of Harlem Globetrotters at St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis took a break during his weekly general audience to join the famed hardwood wizards.
Pope Francis joined Flight Time Lang setting a spinning red-white-and-blue ball on the beaming pontiff’s finger. It fella second later, but Pope Francis took it in stride and joked with Hi-Lite Bruton, Ant Atkinson and Big Easy Lofton, who then entertained the Vatican m(–foul word(s) removed–) with their slick moves.
The Harlem Globetrotters basketball players also encouraged Pope Francis to play with them as they tour Italy.
