The Social Weather Station announced on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 that the public satisfaction ratings of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III has plunged to record low, since assuming office as the chief executive of the Republic of the Philippines.
According to the latest SWS Survey conducted on March 20-23, 2015 and was first published by Businessworld, 48% of the respondents were satisfied, 29% were dissatisfied and 23% were undecided with the national government’s general performance, resulting in a “moderate” +19 net score.
The satisfaction rating of President Aquino drop to all-time low as SWS said 47% of the respondents were satisfied with Pres. Aquino’s performance and 36% were dissatisfied, resulting in a net satisfaction rating of “moderate” +11, which is a 28-point drop from his “good” +39 ratings in the December 2014 SWS Survey.
The net satisfaction ratings of Pres. Aquino at +11 is considered by SWS as the lowest ratings he got since assuming presidency in 2010. The drop of satisfaction ratings of the national government and President Aquino himself was due to the controversial Mamasapano incident.
President Aquino has been blamed for consulting a suspended police chief for the botched Mamasapano operation and caused a political backlash to himself and to his administration.
The chief executive’s public image also suffered negative remarks after he skpped the arrival honors for the slain cops and decided to attent the opening of a car plant. He was also heavily criticized for his refusal to take full responsibility for the PNP-SAF operation in Maguindanao.
