Janet Napoles, the alleged mastermind of 10-billion pork barrel scam is sentenced for life imprisonment after illegally detaining her former assistant-turned-whistleblower Benhur Luy.
Judge Elmo Alameda of Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150 gave his verdict on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 announcing Janet Lim Napoles as guilty in the serious illegal detention case filed against her by her relative and longtime aide.
JLN along with her brother Reynald “Jojo” Lim, who remains at large up to this day were accused for Benhur Luy’s illegal detention from December 2012 to March 2013 at the posh Pacific Plaza Towers in Taguig.
The alleged mastermind on controversial pork barrel scam where many politicians have been linked broke out two years ago. Janet Napoles just surrendered to the authorities particularly to President Benigno Aquino III on August 28, 2013 over a P10-million bounty for her arrest.
Benhur Luy on the other hand is the cousin of Janet Lim Napoles who claimed the manipulation of pork barrel funds among fake non-government organizations (NGOs). He has been considered as principal witness in the cases faced by Napoles.
Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada, Bong Revilla and to name a few are among the politicians who were found out of to have participated on the scam.
