Gerphil Flores Earned Asia’s Got Talent Semis Slot After David Foster Pushed the Golden Buzzer

Filipino singer Gerphil Geraldine Flores earned an automatic semi-finals slot in the region’s most popular talent search, the Asia’s Got Talent after veteran singer and composer David Foster pushed the Golden Buzzer for the very first time in the competition. Gerphil Flores made her own rendition of the song “Speak Softly Love,” to the delight of the judges and the crowd.

During the fifth episode of Asia’s Got Talent, on April 9, 2015, the 24-year-old classical singer performed the theme song of the popular movie “The Godfather,” and earned the golden ticket to the semi-finals of the competition.

In an interview with the Filipina singer, she introduced herself as Gerphil Geraldine Flores and noted that she sings classical and crossover music and previously participated in numerous singing competition including the Pilipinas Got Talent but failed to make it to the finals.

Right after the performance of Gerphil Flores, the judges of Asia’s Got Talent which include the Grammy-winning record producer and former Spice Girls member Melanie C, Indonesian singer Anggun, and Taiwanese-American actor and pop singer Vaness Wu as well as the studio audience gave, her a standing ovation.

On the video posted on YouTube by the official YouTube channel of Asia’s Got Talent, they added the following caption: “We thought he might never do it, but FINALLY…David Foster hits the #GoldenBuzzer! David finds what he was looking for in the angelic singing voice of Gerphil G. Flores – and it was well worth the wait!”
