Pres. Aquino Officially Declares 2015 As “Visit The Philippines Year”

The President of the Republic of the Philippines, Pres. Benigno Simeon Aquino III declared the year 2015 as “Visit the Philippines Year” (VPY).

Through Presidential Proclamation No. 991 which was signed last March 31, 2015, the country’s highest executive mandated all government agencies to participate in simultaneous hosting events that aims to attract foreign visitors and tourists.

The proclamation is requiring all government agencies to submit a list to the Department of Tourism (DOT) which consist relevant activities that will be conducted this year and beyond. The presidential proclamation also prioritizes the use of the so-called VPY 2015 logo, a special stamp was released earlier.

President Aquino or PNOY said in an interview that the country’s hosting of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) and Association of Southeast Asian Nations Tourism Forum in 2016 will “serve as a venue to promote the country as a host for meetings, conventions, and exhibitions in the Asia-Pacific.”

“There is a need to consolidate the activities and products of the public and private sectors into one Calendar of Events,” he added.

Meanwhile, DOT earlier released on its official website the logo and stamp design of Visit the Philippines Year.
