Bagyong Betty whose international name is Tropical Cyclone Bavi which entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility last night, is likely to dump rains over most parts of Northern and Central Luzon this coming weekend as confirmed by the country’s weather bureau, PAGASA.
According to weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio of PAGASA, light to moderate rains are likely to prevail over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora and Quezon beginning Friday until Sunday due to Bagyong Betty.
PAGASA noted that in the next 24 hours, the Philippines will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Bagyong Betty entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at around 4:00 PM yesterday, it was spotted at 1,435 kilometers east of Cagisuran, Aurora, packing winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is forecasts to move west northwest at 17 kph.
PAGASA also forecasts that Bagyong Betty is expected to move closer to Philippine landmass and is likely to make landfall over Aurora on Friday night. The latest weather disturbance is also expected to weaken into a tropical depression within the next 24 to 36 hours. Tethere is also a possibility that Bagyong Betty might slow down and will turn into a low-pressure area before hitting landmass in Aurora.
Bagyong Betty is projected to be at 1,030 km east northeast of Casiguran this morning; 640 km east northeast of Casiguran by tomorrow morning and 270 km east northeast of Casiguran by Friday morning.
