The depending UAAP Women’s Volleyball champion, Ateneo Lady Eagles will face their bitter rival La Salle Lady Spikers in the Game 2 of the UAAP Women’s Volleyball finals today, March 14, 2015. We will be having our preview of the game before the finals match up will start in the afternoon.
The Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Spikers during the Game 1 of the UAAP Women’s Volleyball finals after three-set, which put Ateneo to within one victory of retaining the much coveted women’s volleyball title.
After the victory of Ateneo, the Lady Eagles has no time to celebrate as they focus immediately on to Saturday’s Game 2 of the finals. Veteran libero Denden Lazaro pointed out that her team focused on one game at a time, one point at a time to secure the victory against La Salle.
During the game 1 of the finals it took the Lady Eagles one hour and 20 minutes to secure a victory against the struggling La Salle who played without the service of Team Captain Ara Galang who suffered an injury. The Lady Spikers also missed the service of reserve Camille Cruz who injured her knee late in the third set.
Meanwhile, Ateneo Lady Eagles team captain Alyssa Valdez noted that the Lady Eagles still have much to improve on especially as they committed unforced errors early in the opening set that allowed La Salle to keep the game close.
If ever the Ateneo Lady Spikers wins today they will have a 16-0 sweep of the women’s volleyball tournament breaking the record held by La Salle during the year 2004 wherein they dominated the tournament with 14-0 sweep.
