The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) debunked claims by former PNP-SAF commander Getulio Getulio Napeñas that the elite SAF troopers were able to kill at least 250 rebels during the 11-hour encounter at Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
According to MILF Vice Chair for Military Affairs, Von Al Haq, he found it illogical for Napeñas to claim that the highly trained PNP-SAF police commandos were able to protect their line and were able to deliver heavy damage to both the MILF and the BIFF who knows the terrain better compared to the PNP.
Abu Misri Mama, the BIFF spokesperson also agreed with MILF’s statement, adding that their group suffered only one fatality during the deadly encounter which cost the lives of 44 elite members of the PNP-SAF.
The BIFF spokesperson also revealed that they were among those who engaged the 55th Special Action Company at the cornfield. The armed group was even believed to have taken 10 high-powered firearms, including a 90RR or recoilless rifle.
The MILF also noted that the on-going Senate inquiry was an acceptable process while commending some of the Senators for asking the right questions while the BIFF on their part is still waiting for retaliatory attacks and they will fight back and then run and fight back again as they will wait the government forces in Maguindanao.
