Valerie Weigmann Defends Miss Lebanon Saly Greige’s Selfie with Miss Israel

Valerie Weigmann, the Miss World Philippines 2014 title-holder defends Miss Saly Greige of Lebanon over her controversial photo with Miss Israel Doron Matalon as she took to social media to air her concerns with the beauty pageant contestant. Miss Weigmann took to her Instagram account on Tuesday to air her statement.

Miss Lebanon

According to the 25-year-old Valerie Weigmann the citizens of Lebanon and the rest of those who judge Saly Greige should not immediately judge the official candidate of Lebanon in the world’s most prestigious beauty pageant.

She was quoted as saying “If people were really motivated by a desire for peace, then they should avoid snap judgments and knee jerk reactions,” Weigmann said on her Instagram account on Tuesday.

The statement of Valerie Weigmann came after Saly Greige was slammed online because of her photo with Miss Israel candidate Doron Matalon that went viral during the past few days. The government of Israel and Lebanon have been at war with each other for several years.

According to Saly Greige she’s been “cautious to avoid being in any photo or communication with Miss Israel,” she said. However, it was Miss Israel who initiated the contact and took selfie of herself while Miss Lebanon, Miss Slovenia and Miss Japan Japan were taking a photo.

Miss World Philippines Weigmann and Miss Lebanon’s Saly Greige were both part of the Miss World 2014 pageant last December.
