According to Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, one of the closes cardinals to Pope Francis, he told the supreme Pontiff, that the jeepney-inspired popemobile, is a symbol of the Filipino’s simplicity.

Cardinal Tagle was quoted as saying “I explained to him that here in the Philippines, the jeepney is the most common way of commute and it is the one used by ordinary people, simple people. And he said he liked it. We might send it to him to Rome as a gift of the people,” Tagle said in a press conference on Sunday.

Pope Francis really liked the jeepney-inspired Popemobile, one of the three official popemobile he used during his five-day visit to the country. The Popemobile used during his largest Catholic mass attended by millions of Filipinos is one of the simplest popemobile ever made.

The Popemobile which is jeepney-inspired was used by Pope Francis on his way to Luneta Park for the concluding mass and after the mass he also used the said popemobile on his rounds onboard while greeting the millions of Catholics in each of the quadrants of the Quirino Grandstand despite the rains to receive his blessings.
