Reigning PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo led the San Miguel Beermen with 19 points and grabbing 13 rebounds as they defeated the Alaska Aces in Game Five of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals on January 16, 2015 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The Beermen is now one step closer of claiming the All Filipino Cup title.
San Miguel proved to be the better offensive team when the team mate of June Mar Fajardo rallied behind him and scored the much needed points to defeat the Aces. Arwind Santos and Marcio Lassiter scored with 19 and 16 points respectively as San Miguel took the 3-2 series lead over Alaska.
During the fourth quarter, San Miguel did not collapsed as what they were used too during their two previous defeat against Alaska and won the Game Five with the final score at 93-88.
According to San Miguel head coach Leo Austria he was relieved when he saw that his wards were able to weather the Aces tough defense especially during the fourth quarter and his guys also responded with some timely baskets in the dying seconds of the game.
San Miguel just need one more win and they will bring home the much coveted All Filipino Cup title against the resurging Alaska Aces who despite considered as an underdog took a huge advantage of San Miguel’s collapsed in the fourth quarter during the previous championship matches.
