The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the rest of the security personnel during the arrival motorcade of Pope Francis was praised with their efforts to secure the pontiff upon his arrival from Sri Lanka. The PNP officials who are in-charge of securing the Pope declared the first day of the Pope’s visit as a huge success.

Pope Francis arrived at the Villamor Air Base in the Philippines on Thursday at around 5:45 PM and headed to the Apostolic Nunciature in Manila. The supreme leader of the billion-strong Roman Catholic church was greeted with hundreds of thousands of Filipino Catholics during the first day of his 5-day trip to the country.
Nearly 40,000 soldiers and police officers were deployed to protect Pope Francis in the Philippines according to the statement issued by Philippine military chief General Gregorio Catapang who also describe that the Pope’s visit is a “security nightmare.”
The PNP also praised the Filipino devotees during the arrival motorcade of Pope Francis as they cooperate with the security forces as Filipinos showcased how disciplined and orderly they are, patiently waiting for Pope Francis arrival.
The Filipino Roman Catholics followed the guidelines given by the government and the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), in welcoming Pope Francis.
According to PNP spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wilben Mayor, the first event of the 5-day Papal visit went smoothly while Fr. Francis Lucas, executive secretary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines-Episcopal Commission on Social Communications and Mass Media also noted that the first day was “Perfect.”
