One of the leading budget airlines in the country, AirAsia Philippines cancels 24 flights on January 15, 17, and 19, 2015 during the first ever pastoral visit of the world’s highest Roman Catholic official, Pope Francis, who will visit Manila and Tacloban, Leyte. According to the airline company, their operations will be affected due to the closure of several roads leading to the airport during the Pope’s visit.

AirAisa subsidiary in the Philippines clarified, that although the January 15, 17 and 19 flights were cancelled, operations will stay the same with the January 16 and 18, 2015 scheduled flights.
According to the management of AirAsia, all affected passengers with the cancelled flight can opt to move to the next available flights of the same route within 30 days from original departure; credit shall be valid for 90 days; or avail of refund.
AirAsia Philippines also noted that its passengers will receive SMS and e-mail notifications based on the contact information provided by passengers on their booking.

Aside from AirAsia Philippines, the country’s leading budget carrier Cebu Pacific and the flag carrier of the country, the Philippine Airlines (PAL) have also announced that some of its flights will be cancelled during the Papal visit.
