DSWD Costs of Assistance for Bagyong Ruby Victims Exceeds P106 Million

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced on Friday, December 12, 2014, that the total cost of assistance provided for the victims of Bagyong Ruby has already exceeded the P106-million mark. DSWD already released a total P78,548,121 came from the DSWD funds while the rest was provided by the Local Government Units (LGUs) affected by the typhoon.

DSWD Relief Goods

DSWD noted that the relief goods are continuosly being given to the Bagyong Ruby victims who are still stying in a total of 957 evacuation centers located in Regiongs IV-A (CALABARZO), IV-B (MIMAROPA), V (Bicol) and VIII (Eastern Visayas).

According to the records of the DSWD, Bagyong Ruby affected a total of 694,277 families, which is already equivalent to almost three million individuals.

DSWD also noted that as of Thursday night, December 11, 2014, the agency delivered a total of 297,908 family food packs to affected areas in Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region and Region IV.

Region IV-A – 28,920 food packs
Region IV-B – 11,938 food packs
NCR – 11,400 food packs
Region V – 5,519 food packs
Region VI – 48,463 food packs
Region VII – 49,218 food packs
Region VIII – 121,869 food packs

According to the latest updates from DSWD, the agency continued their repacking of goods in desinated relief hubs of DSWD to ensure that delivery of food packs is not hampered as a lesson learned from super typhoon Yolanda.

The DSWD also made available the relief hubs for the repacking and storage of relief goods. The DSWD relief hubs are located at the National Resource Operation Center (NROC) in Pasay City, The Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) in Cebu City, the NFA warehouse in Borongan, Eastern Samar, which also serves as accessible relief pick-up points for other affected regions.
