Bagyong Ruby is expected to pass closer to the country’s capital, Metro Manila on Monday night, December 8, 2014, as PAGASA expects that strong winds and heavy rains will be experienced in various parts of NCR, when the tropical storm Ruby (International name Hagupit) hits Southern Luzon and Mindoro areas.
According to PAGASA on its latest weather bulletin issued at around 5:00 AM today, Bagyong Ruby weakens and is expected to hit Northern Mindoro and pass close to Metro Manila at around 6:00 to 8:00 PM tonight.
Bagyong Ruby was last spotted 50 km northeast of Romblon and is epected to make its third landfall in Northern Mindoro. Heavy rainfall is expected in the areas affected by the typhoon and will be associated with strong winds, and storm surges, within its 450-km diameter.
The typhoon has already left 8 people dead in the Visayas and forced up to a million people to evacuate to safer ground.
PAGASA noted that Public Storm Warning Signal No. 2 remains hoisted in Metro Manila, but Signal No. 3 has been raised in various provinces just south of the metropolis.
