After an impressive 4-1 victory of the Philippine Azkals during the opening day of the 2014 edition of the biennial meet, the region’s most popular sporting event in terms of football, the AFF Suzuki Cup. The Philippines is now raring to avenged their 2010 semi-finals lost against Indonesia.
The Azkals vs. Indonesia match up will be held at the familiar My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi, Vietnam, the game will kick off at around 5:00 PM today. The national football team of the Philippines is currently leading in Group A of the Suzuki Cup with 3 points while Indonesia was tied with Vietnam at the second place with 1 point on their name.
According to Azkals head coach, Thomas Dooley, the squad is now hungry to return the favor and tally a win against the Indonesians in the Suzuki Cup. The Indonesians are considered as heavy favorites in the AFF Suzuki Cup as they featured their own version of European style football.
Some of the most notable players for the Indonesian side are Sergio van Dijk, a former A-League top scorer; midfielder Raphael Maitimo, born in Netherlands and played for the Dutch U-17 national team; and the naturalized Uruguayan striker Cristian Gonzales. Other dangerous players currently playing for the Indonesian side are Samsul Arif and Boaz Solossa, they are considered as dangerous in the wing attack of the Indonesians.
During the first game of the Indonesian national football team against Vietnam, Zulham Malik Zamrun and Samsul Arif Munif, who scored Indonesia’s goal at around 33rd and 80th minutes respectively.
