The Philippine Azkals enters the semi-finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup for the third straight times as the national squad defeated the former Asean powerhouse Indonesia on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, with the final score at 4-nil. The win of the Philippines is the country’s first ever victory against Indonesia for the past 80 years.

The Philippine Azkals end the decade-long drought against Indonesia with their 4-nil conquest of the many time AFF Suzuki Cup Finalist. The four goals of the Philippines came from Phil Younghusband who scored a penalty kick at 16th minutes, Manny Ott at 53rd minutes, Martin Steuble at 68th minutes and team captain Rob Gier who scored at 79th minutes to seal the Azkals victory.
The Azkals is now secured with a semis slot leading Group A with six (6) points, for a total of two wins, first against Laos and this time around against Southeast Asian powerhouse Indonesia.
Prior to the Azkals vs. Indonesia match, the former runner-up of the AFF Suzuki Cup, came off with a 2-2 draw against home team Vietnam. The last time that the Philippines and Indonesia met was way back on 2013 when the Indonesians defeated the Filipinos with the score at 2-nil.
The next game of the Philippine Azkals will be against powerhouse Vietnam, the team that the Philippines made a huge upset during the 2010 edition of the game and started the Cinderilla-run of the Philippine Azkals in international football competitions.
The Philippine Azkals will face the home team, Vietnam this coming Friday, November 28, 2014 at around 8:00 PM Philippine time. The Azkals vs. Vietnam match will be held at the historic My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi, Vietnam.
