Manny Pacquiao Debuts on PBA Playing for KIA Sorentos Losing to Blackwater

Filipino boxing icon, Manny Pacquiao is now an official member of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) as he makes his debut in the PBA playing for his team, Kia Sorentos against Blackwater Sports in Binan, Laguna on Saturday night, October 4, 2014.

The PBA Pre-Season Game between the newest expansion team in the PBA, the Kia Sorentos and the Blackwater Sports ended with the final score at 88-77 in favor of Blackwater.

The 35-year-old Manny Pacquiao made his professional basketball debut in the 2014 PBA Holcim Liga ng Bayan. Manny Pacquiao contributed with just one (1) point, one (1) rebound and two (2) turnovers in a total of 10 minutes playing time.

The current WBO Welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao started the game with Kia Sorrentos, the team he coached and its team’s top pick at NO. 11 overall in the First Round of the 2014 PBA Draft.

The Holcim Liga ng Bayan pre-season PBA games is used by PBA teams as a warm-up for the formal Philippine Basketball Season which will start this coming October 19, 2014.

According to Manny Pacquiao’s previous interviews, the boxing icon stated that basketball is his second love and admitted that he regularly plays the sports during the time when he is not busy with his boxing career in order for him to keep fit.

Aside from playing basketball, Manny Pacquiao is currently busy with his preparations on his upcoming game against undefeated American boxer Chris Algieri which will be held in Macau this coming November 22, 2014.
