Mayon Volcano continued on showing its unusual activities. With this, Phivolcs said that there is still a possibility of an eruption. There are also few small earthquakes and rockfalls on the place this Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Somehow, these can indicate an eruption of the said volcano in a matter of weeks.
Mayon is still on the alert level 3 and it won’t be changed according to Phivolcs Director, Director Dr. Renato Solidum. Though activities shown by the volcano is not as much as on how it acted days ago, it is still in the parameters of Alert Level 3.
In addition, although it bit quieted down, there is still no immediate plan to downgrade the given Alert Level 3 neither it will be raised soon. This one is based on the news from Manila Bulletin.
Solidum also added that there are possibilities of abnormal activities done by the volcano that was not seen at it’s summit. This may perhaps mean that the volcano is building it’s strength for the possibility of eruption.
According to it’s 24-hour observation period, this Tuesday, the said volcano was manifested with threee volcanic earthquakes and 18 rockfall events. It was first raised to alert level 3 last September 15, 2014. Alert level 3 means that the volcano had the possibility of eruption in a matter of week, or weeks.
Because of it, Phivolcs still continues to enforce the 6 kilometer permanent danger zone for the safety of Filipinos living in the place. Perhaps, they even extend it to 7 kilometers.
