Cainta Mayor Kit Nieto Noted that Mario Flooding is Worst Since “Ondoy”

The Local Government Unit (LGU) head of Cainta, Rizal, Mayor Kit Nieto noted on his statement during an interview with the media that the severe flooding brought about by Bagyong Mario, is the worst that they have experienced since the devastating typhoon “Ondoy” that hits the country last September 2009.

Mayor Kit Nieto was quoted as saying “After Ondoy, I think this would be the next big thing that I can consider in terms of calamity because of the volume of water, and the mere fact that much of our roads are now under water,” Mayor Nieto stated during an interview with ABS-CBN’s ANC.

According to the Mayor of Cainta, Rizal, there are around 2,000 families were evacuated to a total of 17 evacuation centers within Cainta. Aside from the flooding, one of the primary concern of Cainta’s local official is the hard time for their rescue teams in reaching some residents who were isolated by floods, some of them were even stranded while doing their jobs.

In Cainta, Rizal, one of the worst-hit cities in nearby Metro Manila, some people were already panicking as flood waters have already reached the second floor of their homes.

Cainta Mayor Kit Nieto is now calling the attention of other LGU heads and the national government to send them more additional teams and equipment, specifically boats and 6X6 trucks.

The Mayor also noted that the local government of Cainta are prepared to declare a state of calamity amid heavy rains and widespread flooding brought about by Bagyong Mario and Habagat rains.
